This is a gallery of images of the beautiful young people who populated the public space, who cruised the boulevard, and who made the Van Nuys Boulevard experience so wonderful. They are the stars of this show. I have always visualized these candid portraits as if they were perhaps ‘out-takes’ from a motion picture. In so many ways, each person I photographed was dressed up and playing the part of who they wished to be when seen in the eye of the public. They were all performing on the boulevard stage, totally in costume, hair and makeup, and under the lights. I was behind the camera, playing my part. ‘Action!’
